Out with the old...
As of August 1 I will no longer be using this site for my blog. If you have a link on your blog to this site, please remove it.
Thanks!
Thanks!
7 Months

Bug is already 7 months old. It is amazing. He is getting more and more active everyday. He is louder and moves much faster. (He already was loud and definitely moved a lot, but now it is crawling.) His eyes get brighter more and more as time goes by and we can see that he is taking so much of this world in.
He seems to understand a lot more and knows that if he wants toys he can get them from his basket. If he needs a hug, he can hold out his arms to let me know. I love this litle dude...

47-13
That was the final score of "our" softball game last night. I say "our" because it is my old work team, but Nate is the one who actually plays.
I played once this year though. They were short a girl, so one of the attorneys watched Bug while I played catcher barefoot in a swampy area that the ump kept spitting in. I had never played catcher and was a little nervous. It all turned out ok, but I sucked at bat. A few weeks ago a girl broke her nose at catcher and finished out the inning.
Anyway, last night was a do or die game.
If we didn't win we wouldn't make it to the play offs. We killed them. It actually started to get boring to watch. The ump started making up outs for our team to just end it.
I guess Nate had an amazing catch, but I missed it since I was busy cleaning barf off my clothes.

Pool Party
We had a pool party yesterday with my family. We spent a lot of time just messing around in the pool.
Bug really liked it, but not as much as he normally likes water because he was a little tired.
So, he mostly just hung out in the grass nearby. Everyone attempted different stunts in the pool. Many consisted of something related to this huge wheel/tube thing.
At the end though, we were treated to some very hilarious jumps and dives by my brother, brothers in law & Nate...

Fresh from the Garden
Yesterday I was eating a cucumber for a snack and decided it would be good with some tomatoes. I have been bad at being a gardener (again) this year.
I think it just gets too hot outside for me, plus I am still a rookie. I finally did some weeding the other night and discovered that we had 4 full grown green peppers just waiting on the plant. So, when I wanted tomatoes yesterday, I thought I'd check outside.
Much to my delight, there were some cherry tomatoes that were ready to eat.
They were so yummy. I also check the other plants to see how they were. So far this year we have had lettuce and spinach to eat (neither of which I will plant again because we don't really eat salads).
We also have enjoyed green beans a few times. My herbs have mostly been doing well.
The basil has been good to me, as have the rosemary and oregano.
But, like last year, the cilantro gave it up. And once again my peas grew poorly too, although there are surprisingly a few still growing even in the heat.
It's been 100+ for about a week. Yuck. One thing I hate about the heat here is that I always feel like my skin is getting scorched. I imagine it is the elevation. In Iowa it certainly was humid and shade meant nothing, but I never felt like I was in a frying pan. Needless to say, I've been spending most of my time inside this week. With a car that overheats and the AC doesn't work, it's probably best that we stay at home inside.

We Have a Mover!
It's very fun, yet in some ways all too soon. Just a few minutes ago he was stuck under my chair...

Could've Been
If you are like me, the title of this post immediately makes you think of a Tiffany song and the words just run through your head. Anyway, I was thinking today about whatever and that train of thought somehow lead me to how my life would have been different if I had ended up with other boys I dated or had crushes on. I have noticed that a lot of people grow to be more similar to their spouse than they were as a solo artist. I know I did. My vocabulary has changed some. My outlook on cetain situations is different...I think you get the idea. So, as I was thinking, I realized that I not only would have had a totally different life with someone else, but I would be different. Maybe this is just rambling to some of you, but it made a pretty good impact on me as I thought about it. I am glad I have the life I got. With other boyfriends I would maybe have had more money or new stuff (instead of all our hand me down furniture). I might have been in debt instead of only owing on my house. I might have been stuck in my hometown. I might not have been able to travel like I get to. I might have been 30 before I had my first kid. There are things I don't have in my life that I know others would have provided, but I wouldn't want to give up what I have for those things. (Sorry if I lost you there...I was purposely trying to be vague.)
